Welcome to area 42

area 42 deals with the design of consumer products; in psychology; and in how people learn to interact with their environment.

We take an interest in software User Experience (UX), and have experience in software testing and market research –

But.

What we really get excited about are physical objects that have complex interfaces – such as cars, washing machines, cameras, ticket machines, etc.

And we’re interested in ‘instruction books’ – and how people deal with the ‘out of the box’ experience of working out how to use their new digital toy.

We’re also interested in Inclusive Design

‘Inclusive Design’ being designing for people who have, not so much disabilities but slight ‘disadvantages’.

These could be people such as those with poor reading skills – or those who get to 45 years old and have to hunt for their reading glasses every time they come across small print.
